The official store page describes a multiplayer party game and gives a supported range of 2–4 players. It does not advertise a single-player feature or AI opponents.
Community requests are not release commitments. Until official notes say otherwise, do not buy or plan a session on the assumption that bots can fill empty seats.
Options when you do not have a group
Use the official looking-for-group route referenced by the developers, or invite friends through Steam before launching the game.
Couch co-op is another option when people are in the same room. If you need public matchmaking, check the current announcements first because the developers previously said it was outside the in-game plan.
