How to start local co-op
Connect the controllers first, open Local, then select Original, Custom, or Arcade. At the lobby screen, each controller player can press a button to join.
The official update supports up to four controllers. It also allows one keyboard-and-mouse player, so a four-player group only needs three controllers.
Prepare the couch setup
Confirm every input controls the expected player before starting a round. Keep the shared display readable and leave enough space for controller cables or charging leads.
If an input behaves unexpectedly, reconnect it and verify the assignment in the lobby before treating the issue as a game rule.
